Chilean Poet

After a chance encounter at a nightclub, aspiring poet Gonzalo reunites with his first love, Carla. And although their attraction to each other has not cooled, much else has changed: among other things, Carla now has a six-year-old son, Vicente.... Soon the three of them form a happy family — a blended family, although there is no such word in their language. 

Ultimately, ambitions pull the lovers in different directions, but little Vicente still inherits his former stepfather's love for poetry. When Vicente, at eighteen, meets Pru, an American journalist, he encourages her to write about Chilean poets — not the famous dead ones, but the living. Will this investigation lead Vicente and Gonzalo back to each other? 

«Chilean Poet» — a novel about how we choose our families and how we sometimes betray them. It is an answer to the question of what it means to be a man in relationships — a partner, a father, a stepfather, a teacher, a lover, a writer, and a friend.
