The 20th Century of Lina Prokofeva: A Documentary Novel

The first wife of the great Russian composer Lina Kodina-Prokofyeva lived a long life, almost a whole century. She encompassed twenty years of life with Prokofiev in America, Europe, and then in the Soviet Union, interactions with Rachmaninoff, Stravinsky, Horowitz... and Toscanini, Diaghilev and Balmont, Picasso and Matisse, Meyerhold and Eisenstein… She experienced the collapse of her family, arrest, prison, and Soviet camps.
She was an outstanding personality, worthy of her genius husband. However, until the very last years, we knew nothing about her: Soviet censorship erased Lina from both Prokofiev's life and from history.
The book by Valentina Chembardzhi, who knew the whole Prokofiev family well, is a documentary novel based on previously unpublished archival materials.
