Complete Collection of Stories

The English collection of short prose by Vladimir Nabokov 1899–1977, published by the writer's son in 1995, is well known in the West. However, in the Russian language, in which Nabokov wrote most of his stories, the book had not... been published for a long time. Thanks to the years of effort by researchers, the volume compiled by Dmitry Nabokov has been enriched with new works, resulting in over sixty stories written by Nabokov from 1920 to 1951 during his European emigration and in America being collected under one cover by 2008. In addition to well-known works, this complete collection of stories includes rare early writings, as well as preface and notes by Nabokov from English collections. The Appendix publishes works not included in previous collections of stories. The edition is provided with a preface and notes by D. Nabokov; readers will also find a significant amount of information in the comments from the editor and compiler of the collection, Andrey Babikov. The English stories are printed in a translation by Gennady Barabtarlo, prepared with the involvement of Vera Nabokov. The features of the translator's spelling, punctuation, and transliteration have been preserved
