The Golden Age of Russian Poetry

The Pushkin era — the «quarter of a century», counted by Pushkin himself from the founding date of the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum (1811), the 1810—1830s — is the «golden age» of Russian poetry. It received its name not for the... sake of eloquence: it was precisely the «golden age» that was called in antiquity the departed era of beauty, goodness, and justice, a lost paradise. And indeed, the art of the nineteenth century absorbed the most beautiful and kind, powerful and unique features of Russian culture. With full justification, the culture of this era can be called the paradise of the Russian soul, lost but being rediscovered in the verses of the poets of the Pushkin era.
The collection includes lyrical poems by authors who defined the face of the «golden age» of Russian poetry: V. Zhukovsky, K. Batyskov, D. Davydov, P. Vyazemsky, A. Pushkin, A. Delvig, V. Kyuchelbekker, E. Baratynsky, A. Griboedov, and many others.
