Hellenistic astrology is a tradition of horoscopic astrology that was practiced in the Mediterranean region from approximately the 1st century BC to the 7th century AD. It is the source of many modern traditions of astrology that still thrive worldwide today, although only recently have many of the surviving texts of this ancient tradition become available again for study by astrologers.
“Hellenistic Astrology: A Study of Fate and Fortune” by Chris Brennan is the first comprehensive study of this tradition in our time. The book covers the history, philosophy, and methods of ancient astrology with particular emphasis on demonstrating how many of the fundamental concepts underlying the practice of Western astrology originated in the Hellenistic period. The author also demonstrates—through more than a hundred examples—how the methods of Hellenistic astrology can be successfully applied in astrological practice today.

About the Author

Chris Brennan is a professional astrologer from Denver, Colorado, USA, who graduated from Kepler College, where his research focused on cross-cultural comparisons of astrological traditions. He has led the Young Astrologers Association and served as the research director of the National Council for Geocosmic Research (NCGR). A regular contributor to The Mountain Astrologer magazine and host of the award-winning weekly show The Astrology Podcast. He has been lecturing on Hellenistic astrology since 2006 and conducts a certification course on this subject for students worldwide.
