Nursing in the Primary Healthcare System

The socio-economic and political transformations occurring in our country have raised new demands for the quality of nursing care in the treatment process, focused on a professionally competent specialist with practical skills and abilities. This manual outlines the types of medical care in the primary healthcare system (PHC), covers the current positions and principles of the work of nurses and general practitioners, the directions of nursing activities for the prevention of non-communicable and infectious diseases, active home care for patients, servicing patients on dispensary records, conducting preventive medical examinations, hygienic education, and training of the population for a healthy lifestyle. Special attention in the nurse's activities is given to competence, performing preventive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures in outpatient clinics and at home, dynamic monitoring of the health status of families, providing qualified nursing care, emergency pre-medical assistance, medical and social help for chronically ill individuals, disabled persons, and lonely elderly people. The textbook is written in accordance with the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard for the specialty 34.02.01 Nursing. It is recommended for students of medical colleges and schools and for further education.
