Arkady Petrovich Gaidar (real surname Golikov) (1904-1941) – a Russian writer, war journalist, and a classic of Soviet children's literature. Gaidar began his literary career after being discharged from the army. According to his contemporaries, Arkady composed his works "on... the go": he thought about stories right on the road and wrote them down in simple notebooks. "The Tale of the Military Secret, of Malchish-Kibalchish and his firm word" (1933) – is a story about a brave boy whose father and older brother went to war against the bourgeois.
