Arriving in Kuibyshev for completely different business, Colonel General Apolонов – Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the USSR and simultaneously chairman of the sports society "Dynamo" – finds himself at a match between Kuibyshev's "Dynamo" and "Dzerzhinets" from Chelyabinsk.... There he notices two young hockey players from "Dynamo": goalkeeper Vladimir Tretyakov and forward Vladimir Fomin, whose play is sharply different from the clumsy performance of the two provincial teams from group "B" of the second championship of the USSR in Canadian hockey. Impressed by their game, the general decides to take these two players to strengthen the Moscow "Dynamo".
