The fate of Hakan Veil was sealed when his mother sold him to the "Blond Vaysyutis" corporation. There, Veil was transformed into a hybernoid — possessing the accelerated reflexes of a professional soldier. The price for his reflexes and endurance... is that he must sleep four months a year. Veil was supposed to carry out the will of his creators until his death; however, after one unpleasant incident, he was disgracefully dismissed from service and abandoned on Mars, a planet where separatist sentiments, inequality, and corruption reign, where everything is bought and sold. In order to return home or at least survive safely for four months, he needs a lot of money, and therefore Veil is forced to take on the most expensive and dangerous contracts. For example, guarding an Earth official who is wanted dead by an entire planet. But everything turns out to be much more complicated and tangled, and soon he transforms from a bodyguard into an unwilling participant in a case that will shake the foundations of Martian society.
