century — the execution of Mary Stuart, the revolution in the Netherlands, the war with Spain. The play became a warning to the Scottish King James VI. The first edition of A. Yu. Chernov's translation was published in 2002. The translation was first staged by Dmitry Krymov at the Moscow theater named after K. S. Stanislavsky.
