Francis I

The book by the famous French writer Georges Postava Tuduz (1877-1972) tells about the life and deeds of King Francis I of France (1494-1547), during whose reign the country finally left the concluding Middle Ages. A passionate and brave warrior, who experienced the glory of victories and the bitterness of defeats, a skilled and cool-headed diplomat, a zealous patron of sciences and arts, an embodiment of chivalry and a gallant cavalier, Francis I left a significant mark in the history of France and all of Europe. His reign was characterized by the luxury and refinement of the court, a consistent strengthening of royal power, economic upturn, and a flourishing culture. The edition contains 41 illustrations by the outstanding French artist, master of book graphics and caricature Albert Robida (1848-1926).
