Tretyakov Gallery, one can admire the painting by V. Vasnetsov titled Ivan Tsarevich on the Grey Wolf. Our edition presents a long version of the fairy tale, closer to the variant of V. A. Zhukovsky. The adventures of Ivan Tsarevich are not limited to catching the Firebird, searching for the golden maned horse, and marrying the beautiful princess. Ivan Tsarevich will encounter forest-dwelling peasants and Baba Yaga, fight the twelve-headed Zmey Gorynych and Koschei the Deathless, and even die and be resurrected. The illustrations for the book were drawn by the outstanding artist Nikolai Mikhailovich Kochergin (1897-1974), a representative of the golden age of children's illustration. In his works, he often referred to folklore and illustrated numerous fairy tales. It was fairy tales that brought N. Kochergin true fame. The artist approached each new work seriously: he tried to see in person what he intended to draw. Therefore, he visited cities where the ancient way of life was preserved, ancient fortresses, and cathedrals. By examining the bright, festive drawings of N. Kochergin, the reader almost rereads the book, further immersing themselves in the world of magical Russian fairy tales. For children up to 3 years old.
