Andžejs Kruševičs is the director of the Warsaw Zoo, an author of many books and articles, the creator of a bird shelter, a veterinarian, and an animal researcher. In a word - a friend of all animals. The author, with...
his great sense of humor, extraordinary enthusiasm, and extensive knowledge, tells about many species of animals. For bird lovers, this book contains a special appendix, namely, the "bird clock," whose participants sing from evening to morning and from morning to evening.
The book is written by a Polish author, so it obviously discusses animals found in Poland. The green lizard, the common murre, the wryneck - these animals are not found in the wild in Latvia. However, most of the mammals, reptiles, and birds described in the book are well known to residents of our country. Moreover, nature does not stand still and does not recognize national borders at all. The presence of the golden jackal has already been confirmed in Latvia, and species of birds, insects, and other animals previously unseen are being observed more and more frequently. Therefore, knowledge about what and how is happening in the neighbors - both closer to Latvia and further from it - will not be wasted for our readers; it will only broaden the horizons regarding European nature. And is it not truly interesting to learn that quite close - in Poland - there are four, not three (as in Latvia) species of lizards, the snowflake does not turn white in winter, and the mole is a protected animal?
