This collection features only three literary scripts by Alexander Zvyagintsev. In reality, there are many more. Many well-known action-packed feature films, television shows, artistic-publisistic works, and documentary films have been based on his scripts. In particular, such films as "Sarmatian",... "Clan", "Natural Selection", "Deserter". His documentary works, adapted in the genre of historical investigation, are well known to the audience: "On the Trail of Satan", "Rules of the Game", "Right of Power or Power of Right", "Minister in Trust", "Dead Souls", "Lead Thaw", "Return of St. Luke", "Opening the Closet of Shame", and others. And, of course, a large cycle of popular documentary films about the Nuremberg Trials. Alexander Zvyagintsev is the laureate of many awards and honors. In particular, he has been awarded the "Golden Eagle" by the Academy of Cinematic Arts and Sciences of Russia twice.
Films made from his scripts are always captivating. His scripts leave no one indifferent - they are very interesting to read. After all, in them, one can see what is not in the films, what the directors missed or altered. Therefore, a complete understanding of the screenwriter can only be obtained after reading his scripts and realizing the mastery with which he navigates the edges of human reason. A characteristic feature of the author's literary and civic voice, present in all his scripts, is the theme of historical memory and personal responsibility in the struggle against evil, which sometimes appears in the most unexpected forms.
