August Strindberg (1849-1912) is a very important figure in the literature and theater of Sweden. A ruler of thoughts, naturalist and expressionist, mystic, an unparalleled master of psychological portraits. However, the most concise and saturated turned out to be his... self-portrait. The novel "Confession of a Fool" (1887) is autobiographical; it reflects the personal life of the writer with his first wife, Siri von Essen. The work is a vivid story of the destruction of love between a man and a woman, a map of mental disorders, smoldering madness, and hideous jealousy. Strindberg is a judge, a lawyer, and undoubtedly, a genius writer. "Confession of a Fool" anticipates the postmodernist novel of the 20th century.
