The book Today, Tomorrow or Yesterday. Fairy Tales includes the best works of the classic of children's literature – Samuil Yakovlevich Marshak. S. Marshak was not only a famous children's poet, but also a brilliant translator who introduced Russian children to the works of foreign writers and poets. The collection features his retellings of Norwegian, English fairy tales, as well as fairy tales from the East, the Caucasus, and others. S. Marshak also did a lot for the emergence of the first children's theater in our country. Later, performances based on S. Marshak's plays were staged there, such as The Little Hut and The Twelve Months. They are included in the collection along with other of his dramatic works. The book also features the rarely published fairy tale The Two Oxen and the Pea, the poetry fairy tales The Old Woman, Close the Door, The Miller, The Boy and the Donkey, Why is a Cat Called a Cat? and others.
