When Robin wakes up in a clinic with almost no recollection of any memories, he quickly realizes that someone wants to kill him. It is the twenty-seventh century, death has been defeated, people travel between stars through teleport gates, and... conflicts are resolved using network worms that rewrite human consciousness. And it seems that an early version of Robin has been treated exactly this way. Trying to escape from the chase, he voluntarily agrees to be sent to an artificially created, closed society designed to study the Dark Ages, that is, the end of the 20th – beginning of the 21st century. Under the conditions of the experiment, each participant is given a new identity that is not connected to the previous one. But salvation quickly turns into a real trap, and the scientific research becomes a genuine nightmare. Now, Robin finds himself completely under the control of the experimenters – and also at the mercy of his unbalanced psyche...
