The emergence of this tutorial is associated with the fact that the traditional Program on musical literature for music schools was published in 1956 and, without any significant changes, has undergone several reissues in 1962, 1970, 1979, 1982. Naturally, many... installations and thematic plans of the standard program have become outdated and do not correspond to the requirements of new approaches and methods of musical education for children. In recent years, other models of the program and curricula have begun to appear, adapting the course content to new historical and socio-cultural conditions, to new trends in comprehensive aesthetic education for children. This tutorial is based on many years of experience in teaching the subject of Musical Literature in music schools, as outlined in the author's programs and methodological recommendations by E. Lisyanskaya, Yu. Ageeva, A. Khotuntsev, M. Kuklinsky, and others. This tutorial is structured around alternating monographic topics in accordance with the historical and artistic process. This allows for the identification of not only the characteristic features of individual works but also the stylistic traits of great composers, establishing interconnections between phenomena of musical creativity. The adaptable nature of the tutorial allowed for the addition of overview topics on European culture in the second half of the 19th century: romantic composers F. Liszt, R. Schumann, E. Grieg, 19th-century opera, impressionism. The genre diversity of the works contributes to the expansion and deepening of previously acquired knowledge. Understanding that one of the tasks of the subject should be considered the preparation of active listeners and music lovers, we included a large volume of introductory material aimed at the broad masses of the children's audience. Hence, the recurring rubric that runs through all four tutorials, 'They say that...', some materials of which are borrowed from the collection 'Cheerful Intermission: Curious Stories from the Lives of Musicians' / Compiled by I. Artemchuk. - Kyiv: Muz. Ukraina, 1989 and other popular publications about music. Some tasks from the didactic materials by L. Akimova, issue 4. Moscow: Rosmen, 2002 are included in the summarizing sessions.
