Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849) was a writer, poet, essayist, and representative of American Romanticism. His influence on world literature is immense — he is the founder of the classic detective story, science fiction, and psychological tales, having anticipated the era in which he lived, shaping new unique genres.
The "father" of the modern thriller created a special mystical stirring world in his works, where dark events and catastrophes tragically alter the consciousness of the protagonist, engulfed in terror and losing control over himself.
