Edgar Allan Poe and the Peruvian Treasure

USA, Philadelphia, 1844. The feud between American nativists and recent immigrants from Ireland is escalating day by day. Edgar Allan Poe's concerns for the safety of his wife, Virginia, and his mother-in-law, Maddie, are exacerbated by a strange parcel – a box containing mummified and dismembered bird corpses. Has his arch-enemy returned to settle old scores? Equally strange is the arrival in Philadelphia of Helen Loddidges, a young heiress to a considerable fortune, and her request. Returning from a Peruvian expedition, Miss Loddidges' beloved died in the Philadelphia port, and she wants Poe to find out the cause of his death. To her tales of warnings allegedly received from birds and the spirit of her beloved visiting her, Poe is extremely skeptical; but when Miss Loddidges is kidnapped, the writer, with the help of his friend, Chevalier Auguste Dupin, must unravel a web of mysteries intertwined with an old feud, the death of a close friend, ornithomancy, and the legendary Peruvian Treasure.
