A. S. Pushkin wrote "The Tales of the Late Ivan Petrovich Belkin" during the Bolshaya autumn of 1830 while undergoing a three-month cholera quarantine. This period became very fruitful for him in creative terms, and, by his own admission, "he had never written like this before." Exactly: "simply, briefly, and clearly," in the poet's own opinion, prose should be written, which simultaneously "requires thoughts and thoughts – without them, brilliant expressions serve no purpose."
