Tardi is a cult comics artist, a classic of the French graphic novel, a two-time Eisner Award winner, holder of the Max and Moritz Award and other accolades, author of the comic series "The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec," which was adapted into a film by Luc Besson in 2010.

"In the Trenches" is the best anti-war comic of the millennium, dedicated to World War I, published in 1993, and highly praised by Art Spiegelman. The plot centers not on grand designs, politics, or the glory of war, but on the people caught in the vortex of terrible events. Based on the stories of Tardi's grandfather, the book tells how the 20th century began, a century of industrialization and death: starting with the Sarajevo incident, the slaughter at Ypres, the Verdun meat grinder - testimonies of egregious human cruelty.

Before you is a translation of a special anniversary edition prepared in France for the centenary of the start of World War I, complemented by unique materials - sketches and illustrations by the author.
