"The Secret Doctrine" occupies a central place in the works of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky. This book can rightly be called an encyclopedia of occult sciences. Among the topics covered in it are: Eastern Kabbalah and lost magical arts, the influence of stars and planets on human destinies, and the mysteries of the Gobi Desert, the materialization of spirits and life after death.

The range of topics addressed by Helena Blavatsky is extremely wide. These include theories about psychic phenomena, the mysteries of nature, the possibilities of Indian magicians, and the sects of early Christians. It also addresses the negative role of the church as a bureaucratic organization in the history of humanity, Eastern cosmogonies and biblical texts, the mysteries of Kabbalah, esoteric doctrines of Buddhism parodied in Christianity, heresies of early Christians, secret societies, Jesuitism and Freemasonry, the Vedas and the Bible, and the myth of the devil.
The book consists of two volumes, the first primarily focused on science, and the second on theology.
