The History of Byzantine Africa

The Eastern Roman Empire, Byzantium, in the 5th–6th centuries regarded North Africa as its ancestral possessions, only temporarily detached from it. In the 6th century, during the Vandal War, the empire conquers these lands. In the early 8th century, North Africa comes under Arab control as a result of Muslim conquests. The reader will learn about these dramatic events, as well as what happened between the eras of the Vandals and the Arabs, about the African Exarchate, which provided Byzantium with the imperial dynasty of Heraclius, which not only effectively saved the empire but also led to its disintegration.
