Astarta — this is how advertisers named the golden mannequin in the fashionable showcase. The ancient Phoenician goddess, wife of the fearsome Baal, returns to the 20th century as a beautiful faceless doll — a demon of insatiable consumption, breaking souls and lives. Here she is a symbol of modern civilization, endlessly attractive from afar and soulless up close: beauty turns into manipulation and objectification, journalism lies and deceives, and the silks in the showcases are paid for by children's lives in distant countries — as if more than 90 years have not passed since the novel was written.

«Ultimately» — a cycle of psychological sketches and novellas about the discord with one's own «self». The events unfold in Sweden, the Balkans, the modern world, and semi-pagan antiquity, and they are presented to the reader through the eyes of an extraordinary character (usually female), experiencing conflict with her own notions of herself and life.
