Moral Philosophy

This book will introduce the reader to the main works of American philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson.

It contains reflections on how to become a strong and independent individual («Self-Reliance»), on practical wisdom («Prudence»), as well as on the higher human qualities: heroism, love, and friendship. 

Emerson believed that true morality cannot be built on external instructions or prohibitions.

It is born from within when a person trusts their intuition and feels a connection to something greater than themselves.

The philosopher sharply criticized society for pressuring people and making them be «like everyone else», as well as arguing with those who saw in man only a passive mechanism. 

Surprisingly, these thoughts remain relevant to this day.
