This book is more of a reconstruction of the psychological portrait of the sculptor, architect, artist, and poet Michelangelo Buonarroti, whom his contemporaries called "divine Michelangelo." His creative path, which lasted over 70 years, began in the age of the High Renaissance and concluded in the age of mannerism, gifting humanity with sculptures of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ, David and Moses, frescoes in the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica.

With his complex character, he horrified monarchs and popes, which did not prevent him from becoming the highest-paid artist of his time, honored with four biographies during his lifetime. Pietro Aretino, the first "shark pen" among the publicists of the Renaissance, wrote that "the world has many kings and only one Michelangelo…".
