Ian McEwan is one of the authors of the "ruling triumvirate" of contemporary British prose. A Booker Prize laureate. The novel "Atonement" brought the author worldwide fame, which was adapted into a film of the same name starring Keira Knightley and James McAvoy.

13-year-old Briony writes stories with naive plots. But soon they will be replaced by a plot from the world of adults. Scene 1, glimpsed from the window: her older sister undresses in front of neighbor Robbie and dives into the fountain. Ominous Scene 2: Robbie corners her in a dark corner of the library.
