Dehumanization of Art

The collection includes the most important works for the creative legacy of José Ortega y Gasset – "Dehumanization of Art", "Thoughts on Don Quixote", and "Spineless Spain". In the first, the great philosopher examines the theme of the eternal opposition of art for the elite and for the wider public; in the second – reflects on Cervantes' revolutionary novel for his time, which completely changed the trajectory of European culture; and in the concluding work of the collection – "Spineless Spain" – he discusses the ethics of power, public morality, and the inevitable decline of a state in which power is held not by the best of the best, but by representatives of a faceless majority.
