The Kingdom of Baal

The book «The Kingdom of Baal» is dedicated to the forgotten ancient image of Baal — a deity once widely spread in the Middle East and beyond. The publication includes research materials by A. Yu. Sklyarov (1961–2016), a renowned figure among Russian-speaking enthusiasts who studied the heritage of ancient cultures and civilizations, founder of the Laboratory of Alternative History; as well as M. Yu. Gaubets — a cultural historian, art expert, writer, member of the RGO and the VOOIPiK, head of the project «Forgotten Ruins», participant in many expeditions to the ruins of Eurasia and Africa. The book features major articles by A. Yu. Sklyarov, such as «Yahweh vs. Baal», «The Land of Baal» and «The One and Only Baalbek». For the first time in Russia, over 150 photographs, drawings, and plans from the archaeological excavations of Baalbek in the late 19th – early 20th centuries are published. The understanding of the Baalbek phenomenon — undoubtedly the heart of the ancient Kingdom of Baal in the Bekaa Valley — which began in Russian-speaking research practice in the 1950s by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Matest Mendelevich Agrest, has been ongoing for almost eight decades.
