compiled by Yulia Volokhova and Anna Krasnikova, specialists in the biography and work of Grossman, includes three main sections: letters from Vasily Semyonovich to his father; correspondence between Grossman and his wife Olga Mikhailovna Guber; letters from Grossman to Ekaterina Vasilievna Zabolotskaya. These three correspondents were among the closest people to Vasily Grossman, and the correspondence with them, covering almost forty years of his life, reveals much about his personality, relationships with relatives, friends, and colleagues. We see the formation of Grossman the writer, how the war changes him, how he fights for the publication of the novel «Stalingrad» («For a Just Cause»), writes «Life and Fate», his main book, and how difficult his last years are... The edition is equipped with a scientific reference apparatus: an introductory article, page-by-page comments and notes, an annotated index of names, a register of sources, etc. The book also contains photographs, many of which are unknown to the general public.
