America, 1980s. The greed of the largest corporations has led to irreparable pollution of water, air, and food supplies. The population suffers from malnutrition and various diseases, with an increasing number of unemployed on the streets every day. The media feeds the people tales of cohesion, unity, and a bright future, but those who believe in all this are becoming fewer by the day. Research scientist Austin Train unexpectedly becomes a symbol of the ordinary American's struggle for their rights.
