The life of the Cossack Platon Panteleev cracked in 1918: two sons took different sides in the revolution: Vasily advocated for a new world order, while Peter found himself in the retreating White army. Tired of fraternal enmity and irreconcilability, Platon, in his heart, tears apart the family relic – a folding icon with the Savior and the Mother of God, and hands its parts to his sons.

A hundred years later, Moscow student Flint arrives in the village of Voznesenskoye to learn about his family's past, which has long been overgrown with legends. China and South Africa, Argentina and America – where his ancestors had to live. That's what his father told him. It's a pity that you can no longer ask him where the tale is and where the truth is.
