Women, a Cat and a Dog

What can be more frightening than loneliness? When there is no one to talk to except for the dog? When your only son has turned away from you and it seems that you are not needed by anyone in the... whole world and everything good is behind?
 
Evgenia had heard many times that this happens, but she never thought it would happen to her. However, it did happen. And now she had to think about how to live on, how to cope with the sadness that often overwhelmed her at the most inopportune times.
 
«We are responsible for those we have tamed.» We repeat this phrase by Saint-Exupéry so often that it has become worn out, even banal. But there is no other remedy for loneliness except to find a person who is even worse off than you, and – help, warm, “tame.” To bring joy with small things: a plate of hot soup in cold weather, simple Olivier salad on New Year's Eve, freshly washed floors and a decorated Christmas tree.
 
For Evgenia, this became a recipe for sadness, a remedy for loneliness.
