The Last Surviving Samurai. Volume 1

Japan, Meiji era. A mysterious announcement in the newspaper promises a fabulous prize of 100,000 yen to those brave enough to master martial arts and show up at the Tenryuji temple in Kyoto on a specified night. 292 samurai, having lost their privileges, decide to take the risk. Among them is Saga Shuzhiro, who is ready to do anything to save his sick wife and daughter… but he is not ready for what he will ultimately face.

The participants will have to take part in a "royal battle": to get from Kyoto to Tokyo, collecting tokens from other participants by any means possible. And anyone who decides to refuse to participate or drop out of the race will die…
