What Remains of the Father? The Absent Fathers of Our Time

In an era of evaporating paternal images and the destruction of traditional family structures, who or what can take on the function of the father? What remains of the father after the loss of his ideal? And how can the... transmission of desire from one generation to another occur in a period when the patriarchal model no longer works, and the exemplary Father Oedipus has completely lost his authority? Using the works of Z. Freud and J. Lacan, the author creates traits of a weakened but still vital figure of the father. Fatherhood, stripped of its powerful and majestic aura, still holds significance. Its unique role as a witness, which acquires ethical value in our time, is extremely important.
