Down the Step-Mother, on the Hay. Parisian Poems of the 1920s

Boris Borisovich Bozhnev (1898–1969) — one of the most original poets of the Russian diaspora, a representative of the younger generation of the first wave of emigration, an ideological heir of the French "cursed poets" and Russian philosophical lyricists. Bozhnev was also interested in music and drawing, and engaged in samizdat. He was friends with French avant-gardists and Russian socialist emigrants.

This edition includes selected works from the period of the author's poetic flourishing — pieces written in the 1920s in Paris. Bozhnev and his lyrical hero, immersed in the tense social atmosphere of modernity, are infected by the fever of urban hustle. Experiencing a crisis of consciousness, they fully feel the polyphonic essence of perceiving the world.
Some poems and cycles are published for the first time from autographs from the Manuscript Department of the A. M. Gorky Institute of World Literature.
