The proposed textbook is a self-study English language guide for beginners. The main goal of the book is to help the learner acquire the skill of English speech. For this purpose, the methodology of replacement tables is used—a kind of... "constructor" that allows the student to build English sentences based on fixed speech patterns. The replacement table method is an effective way for Russian-speaking learners to master the English language. In six sections of the second part of the self-study guide, the material is presented systematically and includes grammar (the use of tenses present continuous, past continuous, present perfect, past perfect and tense agreement, ways of expressing future time, degrees of comparison of adjectives, modal verbs, etc.), vocabulary by topics, texts, dialogues, exercises for reviewing what has been learned, as well as tasks for self-checking. With the help of training exercises and a disk with audio materials recorded by native speakers of English, the learner will be able to master proper English pronunciation. By mastering the material of the self-study guide, the learner will reach the level of English language proficiency “Pre-Intermediate.” The guide is aimed at everyone who studies English independently.
