Is it possible to receive genius as a gift? Chad Melton is graduating from the art academy and fears only one thing — to remain a mediocre painter, of whom there are thousands. One day he learns that at the London Bethlehem, one of the oldest psychiatric hospitals, there has been a patient for forty years who has painted hundreds of works — outstanding, but at the same time monstrous and even dangerous for ordinary people. Chad becomes determined to enter the impregnable Bethlehem to see the works of the mysterious artist and learn to paint like him. But the canvases that hold the secret of genius also conceal something terrifying that Chad does not even suspect. And will the opportunity to achieve the greatest mastery demand more than he can offer?
