The Tale of Rama as Retold by Premchand

«Ramayana» is rightly considered one of the greatest creations of ancient Indian thought. It is an epic that tells the story of Rama, a prince from the glorious city of Ayodhya, for whom the most important thing in life was... to follow his duty. According to an ancient tradition, the author of «Ramayana» is the sage Valmiki. This book is a complete version of the epic retold by Premchand, the founder of modern literature in the Hindi language.

The book is supplemented with an appendix consisting of two articles: the first, «„Valmiki's Ramayana and Other „Ramayanas“», introduces the reader to the various versions of the story of Rama and Sita, and the second, «Premchand: Life and Work», briefly tells about the classic of Hindi literature.
