Identity: In Search of Criteria for Psychological Health

The monograph presents a comparative analysis of the concepts of mental and psychological health and describes the diagnostic signs of psychological health. As an integrative criterion for psychological health, the phenomenon of identity is proposed — a dynamic, systemic formation... of consciousness, represented in a person's experiences of their self. The theoretical part of the monograph substantively presents the phenomenon of identity and describes its structural components (self-concept and the concept of the Other) and their dynamic characteristics (differentiation–diffusion, integrity–splitting, static–dynamic).

The empirical part of the monograph is dedicated to describing the method of researching identity — the clinical-phenomenological approach. This approach, according to the author, is adequate for studying the phenomenon of identity and determining its qualitative characteristics. As a method of researching identity

the author resorts to text analysis. Using examples from works of art, the author describes various forms of existence of identity: diffuse, rigid, introjective, fragmented, creative.
