In Soviet times, when the authors were very young, they watched with interest as grandmothers performed their rituals in the kitchen... Back then, food products were much harder to come by than they are now. But product shortages did not... mean a lack of culinary imagination. Quite the opposite, it spurred creativity and awakened the artistic spirit in people. In the absence of the Internet, everyone eagerly exchanged ideas, secrets of signature dishes, and recipes for festive and everyday meals with one another. They recorded them in special notebooks. Usually, this was done by grandmothers, as they are the keepers of family traditions, in which shared meals hold great significance. The authors of the book have carefully preserved their grandmothers' notebooks and now offer readers some selected recipes.
