The training tool helps to solve the most important task – to teach third graders to calculate quickly and accurately. The best way to bring counting skills to automation is by solving examples for speed. The degree of material assimilation... is assessed by the time spent on solving and the number of mistakes made. All tasks are grouped into standard blocks. In each of them, the student needs to complete short, medium, and long series of examples arranged in columns of various lengths. They are called “Sprint,” “Medium Distance,” and “Marathon.” Before starting to solve each column, time should be recorded, and upon completion, minutes and seconds should be noted. After that, the answers are checked. If mistakes were made, their number should also be recorded. Gradually, as the time spent decreases, the number of mistakes will tend to zero. The manual is intended for use both at home and at school as additional material.
