With unwavering love and inimitable humor, Durrell recounts his family's stay (including his older brother Larry, that is, Lawrence Durrell — the future author of the famous «Alexandria Quartet») on the Greek island of Corfu and their subsequent adventures, showcasing the broadest palette of literary skill up to a gothic ghost story.
