Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860-1904) - a Russian writer and playwright, known worldwide. The future writer was born in Taganrog to a merchant family and from a young age helped his father in his shop. In 1884, A.P. Chekhov graduated from...
the medical faculty of Moscow University and began practicing medicine. He started writing during his student years - in 1880, his short story and humorous sketch were published in the magazine "Strekoza". Since then, he continuously wrote short humorous stories under various pseudonyms, the most popular of which was Antosha Chekhonte. In 1890, A.P. Chekhov went to Sakhalin, considered to be an island of tsarist hard labor and exile, to study the history and life of the convicts. In 1896, the writer completed work on his first play "Uncle Vanya", which brought about a revolution in the dramaturgy of that time. Over the course of 25 years of creativity, A.P. Chekhov created more than 300 different works, many of which became classics of world literature.
In A.P. Chekhov's stories, something significant almost never happens. The author pays special attention to details, speech, and the description of the characters' everyday life, and through these detailed descriptions shows us the inner world of the heroes, reflects on their fates. At the same time, the writer never imposes his point of view on the readers. Chekhov's humor is ruthless - it tears the masks off the carefully concealed faces of hypocrisy, meanness, greed, vulgarity, and servility hidden by the characters.
