The Ninth

He was prepared to accomplish the impossible. He did it. They promised him much: wealth, fame, supernatural abilities, the love of the most beautiful women. And they deceived him… A deserted island, sea, forest – it doesn’t matter: everywhere there... is only death. Knowledge hastily hammered into the head, and dubious skills learned in a few trainings impress no one here, and they are far less useful than the local bird that has attached itself. And people: they can kill, they can save. And the road for suicides, at the finish of which the same bony old woman with a scythe is lurking… or someone worse. For everything in this world, one must pay, including for one’s mistakes. The standard fee – blood. And it’s good if it’s only your own. A life without a goal is empty and attracts the blows of fate. To run eternally or to stop and finally fight back? Let no one believe in success, let you have no knowledge, experience, and elite army, but it’s high time to show fate that it has tangled with the wrong one.
