Archetypal Symbols in Fairy Tales. Mundane and Magical Worlds

The book of the outstanding Swiss psychologist and thinker Marie-Louise von Franz (1915-1998) "Archetypal Symbols in Fairy Tales", which she worked on for eight years, was published in the 1950s under the name of another person, Hedwig von Bate. The... Jungian Psychology Foundation in Küsnacht achieved recognition of von Franz's authorship and published three volumes of research under the name of the real author. And only now this work is being published for the first time in Russian as part of the collected works. In this work, Marie-Louise von Franz refers to fairy tales of many peoples, often to Russian folk tales. She is the founder of a new direction in folklore research using the achievements of analytical psychology.
The proposed work "Archetypal Symbols in Fairy Tales" is published in the first three volumes of the collected works: "Mundane and Magical Worlds", "The Hero's Journey", and "The Maiden's Trial". The first volume - "Mundane and Magical Worlds" - is dedicated to the motif of the fairy tale hero/heroine's journey from the mundane world to the magical world, where the magical world symbolizes the experience of descending into the unconscious.
This book is addressed to both specialists in the fields of psychoanalysis, psychology, cultural studies, and to a wide range of readers who are interested in folk creativity.
