A Thousand Plateaus: Capitalism and Schizophrenia. Volume 2

"The second volume of the two-volume work "Capitalism and Schizophrenia" was published in 1980. The book itself is what it narrates—a rhizome: a "root mass", mycelium, a network of intersecting branches, each point of which is potentially connected to any... other. Its chapters (plateaus) can be read in almost any order, it is a new type of space, a new (nomadic) type of philosophical text, where the narrative always begins in the middle and then spreads in all directions, having no concluding end.
Philosopher Gilles Deleuze and psychoanalyst Félix Guattari consciously construct an elusive, hazy statement to demonstrate a new model of cultural dynamics. By the mid-20th century, the crisis of the modernist idea of progress reached its peak: advanced medicine killed natural selection and weakened the gene pool, production growth led to global ecological problems, and advanced technologies helped create weapons capable of destroying human civilization in an instant—the progressive (binary) model of movement "from bottom to top" (from worse to better), on which avant-gardists placed so many hopes, proved its inadequacy. And it was the text "A Thousand Plateaus" that embodied a fundamentally different (new) dynamics "from the center — everywhere."
