Vipassana. Experience of Inner Journey

In Russia, vipassana – a technique for achieving awareness – is mostly known from the 10-day retreats led by Goenka. Many believe that vipassana, a psychotechnique derived from the depths of Buddhism, involves adherence to religious rituals, which leads to skepticism about its content and is ignored by those who reject religious forms of experience. However, vipassana – in the form in which it continues to be practiced and developed in the tradition of forest monasteries – represents a means of self-discovery, free from any limitations, both religious and personal in nature. It is primarily an experience of understanding one's own nature, allowing one to "see reality as it is." The composite genre in which the book is written combines the presentation of fairly complex concepts related to the nature of consciousness, the history of Theravada Buddhism, and the author's personal experience of reflection.
