Ptaha

Courtney Collins created a poignant story about reincarnation, about how we continue to find loved ones across years and distances, about the intertwining of fates and human relationships, as complex now as they were thousands of years ago. Once upon... a time, in ancient times, there was a girl named Ptaha. She often looked at the river flowing near her home and knew: this river was the boundary between the life she was obligated to live and the one she dreamed of. On one side of the river were obligations, duty, and an unhappy marriage arranged by her father, who lost all his money. On the other side were freedom and perhaps even simple happiness with the boy she had known since childhood. A girl named Ptaha lived in our time as well. Her mother didn't care about her, and most of the time Ptaha spent alone, endlessly drawing in her album the same familiar people and trying with all her might to find her own path in this complicated life, for which she was willing to pay any price.
